RANCHO CUCAMONGA – The SBCC softball team had its best offensive day of the last week Saturday at Chaffey, but fell in both games of the doubleheader, 9-4 and 7-3.

GAME ONE
The Vaqueros went for nine hits in each game, more than any of their last six games entering the day.

Outfielders Natalie Depasquale and Sarah Hammonds finished with two hits apiece, while second baseman Mckinnzie Grossini matched them for the team-high.

Depasquale also had an RBI, as did pitcher Lauren Indermuehle, shortstop Linnéa Sandahi and right fielder Isabella Huckaby.

Indermuehle pitched the whole game, tossing five strikeouts while giving up five earned runs.

Santa Barbara jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning, but the Panthers would tie things up with three runs of their own in the bottom of the second.

SBCC trailed 5-3 heading into the sixth and cut the lead to just one run going into the bottom of the inning. However, Chaffey had its most prolific stretch of the day, scoring four more runs to head into the seventh up 9-4 and the Vaqueros weren't able to scratch before the final out was picked up.

GAME TWO
For the second straight game, the Vaqueros would take the lead with multiple runs. After a scoreless first two innings, they went up 2-0 in the top of the third.

Indermuehle split pitching duties with Hammonds, giving up just one earned run in four innings in the circle. She also had a big offensive day, racking up a season-high three hits.

Mellanie Barth and Sandahi had multi-hit games of their own, both tallying two. Barth led the team with two RBI and a run. Indermuehle, Alyssa Perez and Mckinnzie Grossini each scored once.

Unfortunately for the Vaqueros, Chaffey would do most of its damage in the third inning, scoring six of its seven runs to take control of the game. The Panthers finished with 10 hits, countering SBCC's fifth inning run with one more in the sixth to cement the final score of 7-3.
