VENTURA – The scoring came on late in the SBCC softball team's game against Pasadena on Saturday at Ventura, but the Lancers walked off in the seventh with a slim 2-1 victory.

ON THE STAT SHEET

  • Catcher Linnéa Sandhal led the Vaqueros (9-23) with two of their five hits. The team's leader in batting average now has a hit in seven straight outings, totaling 11 over that span.
  • Pitcher Lauren Indermuehle, left fielder Alyssa Perez and second baseman Alyssa Perez all had a hit each. Indermuehle also had SBCC's only walk and tossed four strikeouts while pitching the whole game.
  • Right fielder Isabella Huckaby had the team's lone RBI in the top of the seventh.

HOW IT HAPPENED

1st-5th Innings (0-0 Tie)

  • Both defenses were solid over the first five innings. Pasadena got just one batter on base in the first three with a single.
  • Sandhal began the game with a single to center. Facing two outs in the third, she singled to third base and advanced to second on an Indermuehle single to right. However, the Lancers got a fly out on the next at bat to end the inning.
  • PCC got on track with two hits in the bottom of the fourth, getting runners on first and third before SBCC ended the inning with a fly out for the final out.
  • It was much of the same in the fifth, as SBCC was held hitless and the Lancers had just one hit. Breanna Rodriguez made it all the way to third, but the Vaqueros picked up the last two outs right after that.

6th-7th Innings (2-1 PCC)

  • The Lancers opened the scoring in the bottom of the sixth. Jaimie Harris singled for one of her team-high two hits. She later scored on a Vaquero throwing error.
  • SBCC finally scored a run in the top of the seventh. Mckinnzie Grossini hit a big triple to left center, and on the next at bat, scored on Huckaby's RBI.
  • PCC got to the bottom half of the inning with the 1-1 tie in place. The Lancers had their biggest offensive stretch of the game at the right time, hitting back-to-back singles followed by the game-winning double to left field by Harris.
