MOORPARK – The SBCC baseball team enjoyed its largest shutout win of the year on Tuesday, scoring in each of the first five innings on the way to a 14-0 blowout win at Moorpark.

In the first of three games against the Raiders (16-16, 9-7) this week, Santa Barbara (20-12, 10-6) racked up 17 hits, good for its second-highest total of the year. The Vaqueros were led by three-hit performances from Patrick Walsh and Daniel Ghiorso and four RBI by Presley Kosciusko.

Defensively, SBCC gave up just four hits, with pitcher Aiden Garza (5-0) picking up the win after shutting Moorpark out in five complete innings of work. Seth White and Scott Radinsky allowed one hit in the remaining four innings.

The Vaqs put up three runs in the first. Sebastian Arguelles and Walsh got things started with RBI singles. Arguelles made it 3-0 with an unearned run after capitalizing on a Moorpark error.

Two more runs were added in the second inning as the Vaqueros continued to take advantage of Raider mistakes. Ghiorso scored on a Kosciusko sacrifice fly in the third to make it 6-0.

SBCC had its highest-scoring inning of the day in the fourth, with runs coming on a sac fly by Tyler Imbach, a single by Jackson Haskell and another sac fly from Kosciusko.

The lead consistently grew the rest of the way and JP Boyle put the finishing touches scoring on a wild pitch in the top of the ninth to seal the 14-0 victory.

Also finishing with multi-hit outings with two apiece were Daniel Hirose, Matty Fung, Jack Johnson and Haskell.
