SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – The SBCC women's basketball team prevailed 66-64 over LA Harbor in a Wednesday night game at the Sports Pavilion.

Guard Katrina Regalado hit the 20-point mark for the second straight outing, going 7-of-17 from the field with nine rebounds, six assists and two steals.

Another huge disparity in the rebound battle went the Vaqueros' way 60-to-39, making up for a poor outside shooting night. Santa Barbara (3-2) did however set a new season-high shooting 37.3 percent from the field.

"Man, this freshman team is coming together piece by piece. Every game is a opportunity to learn more, grow from mistakes and build for the future," head coach Sandrine Krul said. "When we start to make shots from our guards and feed our post inside, we will become a much better team as a unit. Our freshman are so coachable and so eager to learn more. We have to stay hungry to succeed.

While the Vaqueros (3-2) came away with a two-point win, the final score wasn't necessarily reflective of the way things went. SBCC led by double-digits for a good portion of the night, seeing their lead go back to 10 with about seven minutes to go on a Trinity Scott three-pointer. The forward out of Fresno, CA was the team's second-leading scorer with 13 points and 12 rebounds. It was her team-leading second double-double this year.

The Vaqueros still held a 13-point lead with less than five minutes to go. However, that's when Regalado would foul out, and LA Harbor ended the game on a 15-4 run before its comeback effort ran out of time.

Forward Asia Kirven also recorded a double-double in the win, going for 11 points (5-8 FG) and a season-best 10 boards. Guards Berlin Faiaipau and Janet Arias chipped in with five points each.

Following their final home game of 2021, the Vaqueros will hit the road for their next matchup next Wednesday at 5:00 p.m. against LA Valley.
