SBCC Ousted by Long Beach at AHC's Toys for Tots Tournament

SANTA MARIA – The SBCC women's basketball team fell behind after a big first half from Long Beach College, leading to an 88-46 Viking win on the opening day of the Toys for Tots Tournament at Allan Hancock College.

Guard Brianna Jacobs and forward Trinity Scott led Santa Barbara (3-5) with 12 points each. Isabella Jensen Williams and Asia Kirven added six points apiece.

Jacobs hit multiple three-pointers for the third time in five games, going 3-of-4 from deep. She is shooting 64 percent overall and 71 percent from three over her last two outings.

Santa Barbara had its best outside shooting night of the season, setting season-highs in three-point makes (8-21 3FG) and percentage (38.1%). However, the Vaqueros were held to 24.2 percent shooting overall, while Long Beach shot a respectable 44.6 percent.

Guard Natalie Bautista chipped in off the bench, tying a season-high with five points.

The Vaqueros showed their fight in a high-scoring third quarter, matching the Vikings (6-2) 24-24. However, that came after they trailed 40-15 at halftime. LBCC scored at least 20 points in all four quarters.

Tomorrow, SBCC faces Mission at 1:00 p.m. in its second of three games this weekend.
