SBCC Women's Basketball Defeated at Cuesta

SAN LUIS OBISPO – The SBCC women's basketball team got out to a strong start in Saturday's game at Cuesta, but couldn't keep pace with the Cougars the rest of the way, falling to the Cougars 62-47.

The Vaqueros are now 10-12 overall and 5-3 in conference play, while Cuesta improves to 11-9 overall, 4-3 conference.

Point guard Katrina Regalado and forward Asia Kirven had identical shooting marks (5/14 FG), leading SBCC with 12 and 10 points, respectively.

Guard Brianna Jacobs added eight points off the bench, hitting 2-of-4 from three-point range. Jacobs – the Vaqueros' leading three-point shooter at 34.6 percent this season – hit multiple threes for the seventh time.

Santa Barbara opened the game with its best period, holding the Cougars to just five first quarter points while scoring 14. However, Cuesta answered with a strong second to tie it up at 24-24 going into halftime.

The Vaqueros went into the final frame holding a slight 41-40 lead, but was outscored 22-6 over the final 10 minutes.

Guard Isabella Jensen Williams had a solid all-around stat line, putting up six points, eight rebounds, five assists and four steals. Forward Trinity Scott (6 points) and guard Berlian Faiaipau (5) rounded out the team's scorers.
