SANTA BARBARA – Led by forward Asia Kirven's season-high 23 points, the SBCC women's basketball team cut what was a 15-point deficit entering the fourth quarter to just five points with several minutes to go. However, it was too little, too late for the Vaqueros, who went on to a 59-53 defeat.

Kirven's 23 points were the most of any Vaquero this season. She was 9-of-24 from the field and made 5-for-10 from the foul line, also adding a team-high eight rebounds and two steals.

Guard Isabella Jensen Williams was the only other Vaquero in double-figures, scoring 13 points with four rebounds, three assists and three steals. Forward Trinity Scott chipped in with eight points and a block, while guard Katrina Regalado went for eight boards, eight assists and a steal.

The Vaqueros were outshot 41.5 percent to 29.9 percent, but held the Bulldogs to just 1-of-12 (8.3%) from three-point range. SBCC was extremely good in the turnover department, giving the ball up just nine times while forcing 24 turnovers. It was the first time this year Vaqueros kept their turnovers in single digits.
