SYLMAR, Calif. – Despite only measuring in at 4500 and a par-62, El Cariso Golf Club proved to be a challenge for the SBCC Women's Golf Team in its seventh Western State Conference competition on Monday.

2021 WSC Women's Golf Standings

Freshman Carlee Steven shot a respectable 73, while sophomore Ginger Libby added an 87. Although considered a short course, each of the players faced some shots they hadn't hit all year.

One example was the 230-yard par-3 9th hole.

"Even though this is only a par-62, El Cariso has some teeth," said Head Coach Devin Engebretsen. "The ladies had multiple par-3's at distances they haven't had all year like number 9 (230), and numbers 4 and 13, both right around 200 yards. So just a different challenge, but overall pretty solid performances by both Carlee and Ginger."

Steven finished in second place, while Libby ended with an 8th-place finish. For the year, Steven is third in the overall conference standings (83.67) and Libby sits just a few spots behind her in sixth (87.75).

SBCC next turns its sights to the WSC Final hosted at Santa Barbara Golf Club on October 25. First tee is set for 10:57 am.
