SBCC's Madelon Leiphardt has been named MVP of the All-WSC North women's volleyball team.

The 5-9 sophomore setter from Dos Pueblos was a two-year starter and guided the Vaqueros to their third straight WSC North crown with an 11-1 record. SBCC is 20-5 on the year with 16 wins in its last 17 matches.

Leiphardt was also selected to the All-Southern Cal Regional team. She leads the WSC North in assists with 780 (9.2 per set) and is No. 8 in the state. She has a solid .367 hitting percentage with 189 digs.

"Maddie is an extremely motivated player who gets along with everyone on the team," said coach Ed Gover, who picked up his 300th win two weeks ago. "She's demonstrated great leadership skills these last two years. She's very coachable and very competitive."

Sophomore libero Eryn Young, last year's WSC Player of the Year, was a first-team all-conference choice along with the Vaqueros' top hitter Katelynn Womack and middle blocker Taylor Badois. Young is sixth among WSC North players in digs (304) while Womack, a freshman from Rio Mesa High, is second in kills with 271. Badois is fourth in hitting percentage at .247.

Tristen Thompson and Sydney Kantor made the second team. Kaitlyn Clemann and Alissa La Rocca were honorable mention.
