MOORPARK, CA – The SBCC women's volleyball team took Moorpark to five sets in a tough Friday night road battle, but the Raiders would snap the Vaqueros' three-match win streak, 25-18, 23-25, 27-29, 25-21, 15-8.

"It was a back-and-forth battle all night, but at the end of the day, they outperformed us in the key moments which was the difference in the match," head coach Kat Niksto said. "Caroline McCarty once again led the team in kills with 11, while Jacelin McKie led the defense with 19 digs and 2.04 passer rating. Mikayka Butzke led the team in aces with a blistering seven in the match. However, as a team we missed too many serves (16) giving away too many free points. There were several really long rallies, with both teams going all-out on defense, but at the end of the day, they terminated the ball better than we did."

The Vaqueros (12-9, 6-2) ended the night with a remarkable 96 digs – 20 more than their previous season-high. Setters Emma Crabbe (15 digs, 16 assists) and Mikayla Butzke (12 digs, 23 assists) both had double-doubles.

Pipper Ellbogn-Pettersen went for eight kills and 13 scoops. Gabby Russell also reached double-figures with 13 digs. Offensively, Ava Guenther (7 kills) and and Heidi Collins (6) finished second and third in kills, respectively.

SBCC will remain on the road for its next outing at Ventura on Tuesday, Nov. 8 at 6:00 p.m.
