CHULA VISTA, Calif. – Facing No. 9 Citrus in Friday's SoCal Regionals Quaterfinal hosted by Southwestern, SBCC women's water polo team showed why it owns the No. 1 seed, jumping out to a 6-0 first quarter lead en route to an 11-4 victory.

The Vaqueros improved to 27-6 overall with their fourth straight win.

"Couldn't have been more proud of my team," head coach Chuckie Roth said. "The energy and support was incredible. I thought we came up with a lot of head up plays. Chloe McKay was phenomenal in the cage."

Sophomore Jenna Olson led the way with four goals, including two in the opening period. It was the third time she's had at least four goals in a game this season.

Allison Kay's lone score midway through the second gave Santa Barbara a 7-0 advantage. Olson and Megan Ditlof had the only two goals of the third to give SBCC its largest lead of the day, 10-1.

Ditlof was the only other Vaquero to put away multiple goals. Emily Clapham, Emily Lopez, Charlize Winter and Eden Tal all scored once.

Goalkeeper Chloe Mckay had six saves. She has helped lead a defense which has held its last four opponents to an average of just 3.25 goals per game.

The Vaqueros advance to the semifinals where they will face No. 4 Long Beach on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. A win would place them in the championship game at 6:00 p.m. against either and a loss would see them play in the third place game at 4:30 p.m.
