Destinee King registered season highs with 19 points and 12 rebounds on Saturday night but it wasn't enough for the SBCC women's basketball team, which fell to Fullerton 53-46 in the Sports Pavilion.

It was the second straight double-double for King, a 5-10 guard/forward from Antelope, Calif., near Sacramento. Jeanie Pattison added 13 points, nine rebounds and five steals for the Vaqueros (1-3), who only had six players score.

SBCC jumped ahead 4-0 at the outset, then the Hornets (2-0) went on a 14-3 run. Fullerton led 29-26 at intermission.

"We were playing hard defensively but the press caused us some issues and we only got scoring from six players," said coach Sandrine Krul. "We need more players to score and we always need to be more consistent on defense."

The Vaqueros got within 48-44 on a bucket by Pattison with four minutes to play but Fullerton scored a basket and then hit a 3-pointer to stretch the lead to nine, 53-44.

"That 3 was the dagger," said Krul. "I did like our rotations. We just have to play with a sense of urgency on defense when the game is on the line. We can't let them get a 3 off when we have momentum."

In Saturday's first game of the SBCC Crossover, Moorpark (1-2) got its first win with a 66-55 decision over San Diego City.

The Vaqueros will take a massive road trip, with a potential 13 games on the road, starting with Cerritos in the Glendale Tournament on Thursday at 5 p.m. They won't be home again until Jan. 13, 2016 when Cuesta visits for a WSC North game at 5 p.m.
