Addison Seale had three goals and three steals in her first game of the year on Wednesday and SBCC opened defense of its WSC women's water polo title with an 8-3 win over Citrus in Glendora.

Maddie Brooks added a goal, two assists and three steals while backup goalie Demi Ames made three steals for the Vaqueros (4-1). Starting goalkeeper Mackenzie Richards had nine saves and only allowed one goal.

SBCC built a 6-1 halftime lead with three goals in each of the first two quarters. The Vaqueros were 2-4 in 6-on-5 situations.

"I was proud of our win today," said coach Chuckie Roth. "We got out to a great start but failed to play as a team in the third quarter. Our defense was very good, we held them scoreless on extra-man opportunities.

"This team has the potential to be very good."

The Vaqueros will host Santa Monica in their home opener on Wednesday, Sept. 23 at San Marcos High, starting at 5:20 p.m.
