2022 WSC Coach of the Year
2022 State/WSC Pairs Championship (Crabbe/Lemoine)
2023 WSC Pairs Championship (Crabbe/Medina)

Coach Ariana Garner completed her second full season with SBCC beach volleyball in 2023.

The 2023 season saw Garner and the Vaqueros compile a program-record 21 wins, finishing 21-4 overall and 9-3 in the WSC, good for second in the conference. One of five Vaquero pairs competing at the WSC Pairs Championships, the duo of Emma Crabbe and Olivia Medina took the No. 2 seed and earned a first round bye before sweeping through the final four rounds without dropping a set. Crabbe her second consecutive conference pairs title with a championship win over Ventura's top-seeded pair of Kayla Murdoch and Autumn Rojelio Moreno. Two Vaquero pairs advanced to the State Championships, where Crabbe and Medina advanced to the round of 16.

In her first year as head coach, and just three years after the program's two-win inaugural season, Garner led the Vaqueros to immediate and meteoric success. SBCC posted a 14-2 record, flying through conference play with a 10-0 mark and sweeping 10 out of 14 regular season opponents. Following a 4-1 win over Ventura in the SoCal Regionals, the team would fall to Orange Coast 3-2, but the season didn't end there as all six of its pairs teams would advance to regionals as well.

3s pair Lily Krongold and Jacelin McKie advanced to the state championships, taking the No. 14 seed into a tough group stage pool. They went on to be one of four Vaquero duos named to the All-WSC First Team.

1s pair Lemoine and Crabbe – which had already won the WSC Pairs Championship – would be the lone Vaquero duo to advance to the winner's bracket at the state championships. They took the No. 7 seed into the final grueling day of competition at Irvine Valley College, eventually sweeping three of four opponents and downing West Valley 21-15, 21-18 to seal the historic win.

Alongside her partner Jordon Dyer, Garner has owned 805 Beach Volleyball, a competitive travel beach volleyball club based in Santa Barbara. The club – which Garner and Dyer have run for four seasons as of 2022 – has a mission to introduce the sport of beach volleyball to the local youth in a fun and safe way while also providing quality instruction to help develop the youth as individuals and volleyball players.

Garner and Dyer are also contracted employees for the City of Santa Barbara Parks and Rec. They run summer youth beach volleyball amp and fall and spring afterschool clinics, reaching over 300 kids in the Santa Barbara community.

Garner started her collegiate volleyball career at SBCC where she played both indoor and beach volleyball. She was the starting setter on the indoor team and helped lead the Vaqueros to a pair of league championships. She earned all-conference honors during both seasons at SBCC.

Ariana also led the SBCC beach program to a 7-3 overall record as a player. After playing two years at SBCC, she transferred to Long Beach State to continue her colligate career playing beach volleyball. At Long Beach State, she won nine straight matches to start her first season, going 9-3 overall in dual matches. Ariana was the only player in Long Beach State history to have 30 digs in a match, a feat she accomplished twice. She graduated from Long Beach in May 2017 with a degree in Sociology.

Ariana also spent several years as the indoor head coach at Santa Barbara High School. In her first year, she returned the Dons to the CIF-SS Championships, taking them to the second round of playoffs after a tremendous season of growth. She was also the school's varsity head coach for beach volleyball, leading the Dons to the 2018 and 2019 All-Channel League title.

Prior to her coaching career, Garner was a multi-sport athlete in high school playing volleyball, soccer and basketball at Rio Americano High School in Sacramento, California. She earned four letters in both volleyball and soccer and was a three-time First Team All-League selection in volleyball as well as a three-time CIF champion in soccer.
