Tryvon Rome banked in an improbable half-court shot at the buzzer on Saturday to lift Victor Valley over SBCC 62-61 at the Hancock Home Motors Tournament.

The Vaqueros led 61-59 with 2.2 seconds left and the Rams were in-bounding from under SBCC's hoop. Brycyn Gossett deflected the in-bound pass and Rome came out of a scramble, took two dribbles and lofted his shot from just inside half-court.

Adrian Juilland-Johnson led the Vaqueros (0-5) with 15 points and 7 rebounds in 27 minutes off the bench. Gossett added 12 points and 9 rebounds while Matthew Morris had 10 points and six boards.

SBCC trailed 57-48 with 4:36 to play, then went on an 11-1 run and took a 59-57 lead on a pair of Juilland-Johnson free throws with 2:25 to play.

"Our guys really battled back after being down by nine late in the game," said associate head coach Devin Engebretsen. "We couldn't be more proud of their grit and determination. Johnson made some big plays down the stretch, Daniel Arzate did a tremendous job leading us as the point guard and Brycyn was flying around making plays."

The Vaqueros will take on a Northern California team, Yuba of Marysville, on Sunday at 11 a.m.
