Dine shoots season-best 71; Vaqueros are third in WSC No. 10

Felix Dine fired a season-low 1-under 71 on Monday and Zach Steinberger shot 74, leading SBCC to a third-place finish in WSC men's golf tournament No. 10 at San Dimas Canyon GC.

Canyons won the nine-team tourney with an 8-under 352, the best round by any team in California this year. The Cougars' had the low two scorers in Michael Lindgren (4-under 68) and Clay Kucera (69). Their five scoring players all shot 72 or lower.

Ventura was second at 387, one stroke ahead of SBCC. Hancock was fourth with 396.

Dine, a freshman from Sweden, tied for third at 71 and Steinberger tied for ninth. Kotaro Noda shot a season-best 77 for the Vaqueros.

Canyons, the defending state champion, is 77-3 in conference and clinched a tie for the WSC title. They have a 16-game lead over SBCC and Ventura (61-19) with two matches to go.

The Vaqueros will travel to Llano, Calif., for the 36-hole WSC Finals (Nos. 11 & 12) on Monday at Crystalaire Country Club.
