Vaqueros Tie in Scoreless Day With LA Mission

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – For the first time in 12 outings, the SBCC men's soccer team ended a match in a tie, finishing Friday's game against LA Mission 0-0.

The Vaqueros are now 8-3-3 on the season with a 2-1-1 mark in conference play, while LA Mission moves to 4-6-5 overall, 3-0-1 WSC.

Santa Barbara tested the Eagles often, putting up their most shots so far in conference play with 22 attempts – three shy of a season-high. Unfortunately for the Vaqueros, they couldn't find the breakthrough, despite putting four shots on target that were saved by LA Mission goalkeeper Anthony Martinez.

It was just the third time this year that the Vaqueros have been held scoreless, and the first time they've been shutout in the last eight games.

On the flip side, the SBCC defense held a clean sheet for the fifth time this season. Goalkeeper Sunny Dhaliwal defended the net to the tune of eight saves, his second-most in eight starts this year. With one more shutout, the Vaqueros will match their total of six from their last full season in 2019.

SBCC has lost just one time in its last seven games, going 5-1-1 since Sept. 24. The Vaqueros will be back home for their next three games, where they are an undefeated 6-0-1 this season. They face Santa Monica next Tuesday, Sept. 26 at 7:30 p.m. at La Playa Stadium.
