Spencer Ekola got the lone point for the Vaqueros (0-4, 0-2), beating Bill Whitaker 6-3, 6-1 at No. 2 singles. The Pirates are 2-1 and 2-0.
Emerson Sekban lost two close sets to Augustin Lestelle 6-4, 7-5 at No. 1 singles.
The Vaqueros are playing three matches in three days. They'll host Bakersfield in a rain makeup on Friday at 2 p.m. and Fullerton on Saturday at 11 a.m.
