SBCC Men's Volleyball Picks Up First Win of 2022 Over Palomar

SANTA BARBARA – The SBCC men's volleyball team earned its first win of the year last Friday, defeating Palomar in four sets, 25-16, 21-25, 25-20, 25-19.

A balanced offensive attack saw the Vaqueros (1-1) get 10 kills and one block each out of opposite Kevin Vonyokes (.350) and middle blocker Tobias Murphree (.381).

Outside hitter Jack McManus and opposite Isaac Marshall finished with nine kills apiece. Outside Jackson Dupler added eight kills.

Libero Nate Rogers anchored the defense with 12 digs. McManus and setter Carter Cottrell had seven digs each. Cottrell also tallied 25 assists and a match-high three aces.

Setter Toby Still led all players with 26 assists to go along with three digs. The Vaqueros hit at a .279 clip as a team, totaling 51 kills. Their 12.8 kills per set average was the highest in their last seven contests dating back to last season.
