Moorpark built a 32-11 first-quarter lead on Saturday on the way to a 102-66 women's basketball victory over SBCC at Raider Pavilion.

The Raiders, ranked No. 2 in the state, won their 12th straight game to improve to 20-1 and 3-0 in the WSC North. The Vaqueros suffered their third straight loss and fell to 12-6 and 0-3.

Sophia Torres, a sophomore from Santa Barbara High, scored a career-high 26 points and grabbed eight rebounds for Santa Barbara. She was 12-21 from the field. Alondra Jimenez added 15 points and Jada Forsdick-Stevenson had 10.

Moorpark had a plus-31 advantage in the first and third (29-19) quarters. The Raiders led 52-31 at halftime.

Jazzy Carrasco led four Raider starters in double figures with 24 points and 12 assists.

The Raiders outshot the Vaqueros 55.4% to 42.4%. The rebounds were even at 32-all but the Vaqueros committed 21 turnovers while Moorpark had just nine.

There were 45 assists in the game -- 25 by Moorpark and 20 by the Vaqueros. Jordan Parkhust was held to eight points but had a team-high six assists. Stevenson had five rebounds and four assists and Tori Kelley also handed out four helpers.

"We're doing well offensively, scoring over 60 points, but we have to keep repping our defense in practice," said SBCC coach Sandrine Krul. "We played well in spurts but we have yet to play 40 minutes of consistent defense. This team plays hard and is together and these losses won't affect their mental toughness.

"What we have to fix is understanding our defense and guarding the ball a lot better."

The Vaqueros will play their first home game of 2020 and first WSC North home game on Wednesday vs. Hancock at 5 p.m. SBCC will play four straight at home, then finish the season on Feb. 21 at Hancock.
