
SBCC earned the 15th seed for the Southern Cal Regional women's basketball playoffs and will host No. 18 L.A. Valley on Wednesday at 7 p.m.

The Vaqueros (15-8) had to beat Hancock in their last regular-season game on Friday to make the playoffs. The Vaqueros won 81-75 behind a season-high 14 3-pointers and tied Hancock for third in the WSC North. SBCC got the No. 3 seed from the conference thanks to two wins over the Bulldogs.
Santa Barbara is making its first playoff appearance in seven years, since the 2012-13 season. The Vaqueros are hosting their first playoff game since 2011. They've hosted three playoff games in the last 10 years and five games since 2001.
The Vaqueros and Valley (15-13) met in the sixth game of the season back on Nov. 21 and SBCC rode a 26-10 first-quarter surge to an 80-56 home victory.
SBCC is led by former Santa Barbara High teammates Alondra Jimenez and Sophia Torres. Jimenez, a 5-5 sophomore point guard, is averaging 16.7 points, 4.3 rebounds and 5.2 assists. Torres, a 5-11 sophomore forward, nearly averages a double-double with 16.5 points and 9.2 rebounds.
Torres is shooting 53.5% from the field, which ranks her third in the WSC North and 11th in the state.
Jordan Parkhurst has also been a key contributor, averaging 12.5 points, 4.2 rebounds and 3.0 assists.
The Monarchs are the No. 3 team from the WSC South with a 9-5 conference record. They've lost three of their last four.
L.A. Valley is extremely balanced with four players averaging between 9.4 and 10.9 points.
Sophia Hughes, a 5-5 freshman guard, leads the way with 10.9 points and 6.1 rebounds. Janelle Jiron averages 10.4 points and 6.5 rebounds and Rebecca Castillo scores 10.2 a game and pulls down 5.3 rebounds.
Brianna Torres, a 5-1 freshman point guard, is No. 1 in the WSC South and No. 6 in the state in 3-point shooting, knocking down 42.6%.
The WSC North got four teams in the playoffs -- No. 1 Moorpark, No. 3 Ventura, No. 15 SBCC and No. 19 Hancock. The Bulldogs will play one of three first-round games on Wednesday, traveling to No. 14 Long Beach with the winner playing at Ventura on Saturday.
The winner of the SBCC-L.A. Valley game will advance to play at No. 2 Mt. SAC (21-7) on Saturday.
Ticket prices are $12 general admission and $8 for all identified students, faculty, senior citizens age 60 and over and children 12 and under.
