The Vaqueros and Valley (15-13) met in the sixth game of the season back on Nov. 21 and SBCC rode a 26-10 first-quarter surge to an 80-56 home victory.

SBCC is led by former Santa Barbara High teammates Alondra Jimenez and Sophia Torres. Jimenez, a 5-5 sophomore point guard, is averaging 16.7 points, 4.3 rebounds and 5.2 assists. Torres, a 5-11 sophomore forward, nearly averages a double-double with 16.5 points and 9.2 rebounds.

Torres is shooting 53.5% from the field, which ranks her third in the WSC North and 11th in the state.

Jordan Parkhurst has also been a key contributor, averaging 12.5 points, 4.2 rebounds and 3.0 assists.

The Monarchs are the No. 3 team from the WSC South with a 9-5 conference record. They've lost three of their last four.

L.A. Valley is extremely balanced with four players averaging between 9.4 and 10.9 points.

Sophia Hughes, a 5-5 freshman guard, leads the way with 10.9 points and 6.1 rebounds. Janelle Jiron averages 10.4 points and 6.5 rebounds and Rebecca Castillo scores 10.2 a game and pulls down 5.3 rebounds.

The WSC North got four teams in the playoffs -- No. 1 Moorpark, No. 3 Ventura, No. 15 SBCC and No. 19 Hancock. The Bulldogs will play one of three first-round games on Wednesday, traveling to No. 14 Long Beach with the winner playing at Ventura on Saturday.

The winner of the SBCC-L.A. Valley game will advance to play at No. 2 Mt. SAC (21-7) on Saturday.
