Jimenez, Torres Parkhurst earn first-team All-WSC honors

SBCC's Alondra Jimenez, Sophia Torres and Jordan Parkhurst have been named first-team All-WSC North by the conference's women's basketball coaches.

Jimenez, a sophomore from Santa Barbara High, was No. 4 in scoring in the WSC North, averaging 17.6 points in eight games. She scored 21 or more four times. She also averaged 3.9 rebounds and was third in assists with 4.5 per game.

Torres, a 5-11 sophomore who played with Jimenez at Santa Barbara High, was sixth in scoring with a 16.1 average in eight games and No. 8 in rebounding at 8.0. She ranked seventh in FG percentage at 51.0. Her posted her career high of 26 points on Feb. 1 at No. 2 Moorpark.

Parkhurst, a freshman guard from San Juan Hills in Dana Point, averaged 11.5 points and 3.9 rebounds. She got her season high on Jan. 25 with 25 points in the WSC North opener at Ventura.

The Vaqueros (15-9) had to beat Hancock in the last regular-season game to make the playoffs and they did that, 81-76. SBCC and Hancock tied for third at 3-5 but the Vaqueros got the No. 3 seed due to their 2-0 record against the Bulldogs.

Santa Barbara qualified for the Southern Cal Regional for the first time in seven years. The 15th-seeded Vaqueros fell to L.A. Valley 70-50 on Wednesday night.
