LOS ANGELES, CA – A scoring rampage in the third quarter saw the SBCC women's basketball team go on to its largest win of the year on Wednesday at LA Pierce, defeating the Brahmas 88-47.
After a close first quarter, the Vauqeros (8-8, 1-1) went into halftime leading 34-26, but the game would be blown open with one of their most dominant periods in recent memory, as they outscored the Brahmas (1-15, 1-15) by a remarkable 35-14 in the third.
Sophomore guard Natalie Bautista had a career night, leading the way with 21 points. She connected on 7-of-13 from the field and 5-of-10 from deep. Fellow sophomore guard Brianna Jacobs also had 20 for the first time in her Vaquero career on 8-of-14 overall and 4-for-8 on threes.
SBCC couldn't miss in the third period. Bautista and Jacobs combined to hit 5-of-7 from range and Isabella Favazzo came off the bench to hit 3-of-4. For the game, the Vaqueros were an incredible 16-of-34 on threes, shattering their season-highs for both makes and percentage (.471).
Favazzo finished with 11 points. Isabella Jensen Williams and Kiani Rojas rounded out SBCC's double-digit scorers with 10 apiece.
The Vaqueros return home for their next game against Ventura on Wednesday, Jan. 18 at 5:00 p.m.
