Pratima Sherpa tied for second and Alexa Bleth took fifth in WSC No. 8 on Monday at Sand Canyon CC in Santa Clarita.

Sherpa shot 78 on the course formerly known as Robinson Ranch. Sherpa, who won WSC No. 6 with a 72 last Monday, has finished in the top four at all eight WSC events. Bleth turned in an 84 and Paris White tied for seventh at 92.

Haruka Koda of Canyons was the medalist with a 3-under 69. She beat Sherpa and teammate Jessie Lin by nine shots.

Canyons claimed its eighth straight WSC tourney with 318 strokes. SBCC was 31 behind in second, shooting a season-high 349.

"It was an extremely difficult day, a long day," said SBCC coach Chuck Melendez. "For not seeing the course, Pratima played pretty good. We'd never seen that course and Canyons plays it all the time in practice. There's a lot of hidden trouble with blind shots and things like that. It made it very difficult and frustrating."

With two tourneys to go, the Cougars are unbeaten at 40-0, followed by the Vaqueros (32-8), Antelope Valley (19-21) and Citrus (18-22).

The WSC Finals will be held on Sunday (WSC No. 9) and Monday (WSC No. 10) at Camarillo Springs GC.
