Santa Barbara, Ca. The SBCC Women's Golf Team came out firing in their lone hosted event on Monday, WSC #2 at Santa Barbara Golf Club. Warm weather and breezy conditions provided for a tough test early on, but the back nine saw many competitors shoot low scores.  In the end, SBCC brought home 3rd place with a score of 344, only two shots out of Moorpark's 2nd place finish (342). College of the Canyons brought home the team medal with a score of 334.  Bakersfield College took home 4th place with a team score of 357, followed by Antelope Valley (404), Allan Hancock (427), and Citrus College (436). Citrus's Isabelle Olivas-Lowell was the only participant who saw red figures with a medal round of 68.

"I thought we showed improvement from our first match, and had a good opportunity to both win or take second place," said head coach Devin Engebretsen. "I tell our athletes 'every shot matters' and you can see it did today by missing out on 2nd by only 2 shots." The Vaqueros next travel to Sterling Hills GC on Monday, September 18 for WSC #3 hosted by Moorpark College. SBCC is currently in 4th place in the WSC standings with a record of 7-5. Canyons holds first place at 12-0, Moorpark is in 2nd at 9-3 and Bakersfield  in 3rd place at 8-4.
