The "B Girls" got it done for SBCC on Friday as Olivia Berntsson and Molly Branigan scored their first college goals in a 2-1 women's soccer win at Taft.
Berntsson, a sophomore defender from Gothenburg, Sweden, pumped in a 20-yard shot in the 14th minute. Branigan, a freshman midfielder from Roseville, Calif., converted a 30-yard free kick in the 25th minute.
Taft (2-3-2) spoiled the shutout when Kaitlin Dansie found the net in the last minute of play.
Elizabeth Estrada, a sophomore from Carpinteria High, made five saves to earn her first victory for the Vaqueros (2-4).
"We played very well and dominated the game," said Vaquero coach John Sisterson. "Olivia scored a great goal from 20 yards, picking her spot with her left foot into the bottom corner.
"Molly had a strong goal from 30 yards on a direct free kick that gave the goal keeper no chance. Everyone played well and worked hard for the victory."
Sisterson added that "Lala (Lourdes Marin-Rodriguez) was outstanding in midfield."
The Vaqueros will continue their three-game road trip on Tuesday when they play at Santa Monica at 3 p.m.
