LOS ANGELES, CA – The SBCC women's soccer team was defeated for the first time in 11 conference matches this season on Friday, falling at LA Pierce 1-0.

The Vaqueros (10-3-6, 8-1-2) were unable to find the back of the net for the third time in five games. The Brahmas (12-2-5, 6-2-3) extended to a seven-game unbeaten streak with the win.

"Tonight's game was a battle. Going to LA Pierce is always tough," assistant coach Alex Zermeno said. "We had the momentum in the first 15 minutes of the game with Theresa English putting some dangerous balls in the box, and a shot from 35-yards out from Gizela Zermeno that hit the cross bar, but they were able to capitalize from a corner."

LA Pierce ended the day with a slim advantage in the shot department, edging out SBCC 6-5 in total attempts and 4-3 in shots on target. Goalkeepers Analea Pule and Samantha Perryman finished with three saves for their respective squads.

However, the Brahmas would take the lead in the 13th minute, as Brenda Alas set up Natalia Puccio for the only goal of the day.

"In the second half, I feel that we were the better team," Zermeno continued. "Aisha Camara had a tremendous second half with four shots and two very dangerous ball into space. Theresa and Madison Dodson also had great second half performance. With 15 min to go, we got an Olympic goal called back by the ref that was unfortunate, as we believe that there was no foul committed. Late in the second half, we had a chance to equalize the game from a cross from Theresa English that saw Hanna Crawford on the end of it, but an LA Pierce defender was able to block the shot."

Santa Barbara has just one more regular season game remaining. The Vaqueros will be back home at La Playa Stadium to face Moorpark at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 8.
