Vaquero Swim & Dive Claims Another First Place Finish at WSC #3

SANTA MONICA – The Santa Barbara Women's Swim Team wrapped up its week of training by competing at the Western Southern Conference #3 at Santa Monica College on Friday.

Competing against three other schools, the Vaqueros ended with the highest score at the meet with a total of 106 points. LA Pierce scored 11 points, Santa Monica secured 16 points, Citrus college received 38 points.

Some stand out swims that allowed Santa Barabara to secure this win included freshman Elina Borough's 400 IM, where she went 5:14.06, and her 200 yard breaststroke where she went 2:40.95.

Another stand out performance was by sophomore Jenna Olson, who swam a 2:50.58 in the 200 Breaststroke. Olson cut six seconds off of her personal best and placed second overall in this event.

Freshman Charlize Winters also had an outstanding swim in the 200 backstroke where she swam a 2:26.72 and finished first overall. Freshman Ensley Letterman also won the 100 Freestyle with a 55.76.

Wrapping up the weekend, head coach Chuckie Roth had nothing but positive and encouraging words to say about the team. He stated, "The swims this weekend were inspirational and we are looking forward to next weekend."

The team is now preparing to compete at the Pasadena Invitational on April 8th and the 9th where they hope to improve even more. The team is putting in the hard work and they are excited about the Pasadena Invite, Conference, and State.
