SANTA ROSA, Calif. – The Santa Barbara City College swimming and diving team sits in second place with 267 points, trailing only Mt. San Antonio College (305) heading into the final day of the 3C2A State Swimming and Diving Championships.
The Vaqueros set the tone on Thursday, when Lily Carrick, Erin Otsuki, Leah Rummelhoff, and Maddie Myers won the 200 Free Relay in the opening event.
Carrick won her second event of the day when she bested the field by over nine seconds in the 500 Free.
Santa Barbara claimed third place in the 400 Medley Relay for their third medal finish on the first day.
On Friday, Erin Otsuki, Kennison Cota, Maddie Myers, and Leah Rummelhoff took third in the 200 Medley Relay.
Carrick continued her stellar meet by breaking her own state meet record in the 400 Individual Medley, lowering the mark by 2.59 seconds.
Maddie Myers claimed first place in the 200 Free, while Sofia Paez earned third.
Jaeda Crabtree, Rummelhoff, Paez, and Carrick took second place in the 800 Free Relay to cap off Friday.
The Vaqueros head into the final day of competition within striking distance of back-to-back state championships.
