
Glendale turned Thursday's first-place women's tennis showdown into a 9-0 rout over SBCC.
The visiting Vaqueros (8-2, 6-0 WSC) won their seventh straight match on a windy day at Pershing Park. The hometown Vaqueros (6-2, 5-1) had their six-match win streak snapped.
SBCC turned the 5 and 6 singles into marathons. Hanna Pesniak dropped the closest match of the day to Ruth Kachatorian 7-5, 3-6, 7-6 (12-10). Maddie Mitchell lost a tight affair at No. 6 singles, 2-6, 6-0, 7-5.
Santa Barbara will host Grossmont on Friday at 2 p.m. and Saddleback on Saturday at noon.
