
SBCC was seeded No. 6 for the Southern Cal Regional playoffs and will play a women's tennis quarterfinal at No. 3 Irvine Valley on Tuesday at 2 p.m.
The Vaqueros went 14-4 under first-year head coach Christina Klein and took second in the Western State Conference at 12-2. The 14 wins are the most since 2001 when the Vaqueros went 20-0 and won the CCCAA State title.
Regional Tennis Brackets
SBCC is making its third playoff appearance in the last four years. Katelyn Peyvandi is the No. 1 singles player. No. 4 Pia Valtierra had the best singles record this year (15-3), followed by No. 5 Hanna Pesniak (13-4) and No. 3 Josephine Pulver (12-5).
Irvine Valley is 12-3 and was the runner-up in the Orange Empire Conference at 8-2.
Cerritos (21-1) is the top seed, followed by defending state champion Orange Coast (17-1), Irvine Valley (12-3) and WSC champion Glendale (20-2).
The winner of Tuesday's match will play the Cerritos-San Diego City winner on Tuesday, April 17.
