Vaqueros are nearly perfect in 9-0 win over AVC

SBCC turned in a near-perfect performance on Thursday, winning 72 of 79 singles games in a 9-0 WSC women's tennis shutout of visiting Antelope Valley.

The Vaqueros improved to 4-1 and 2-0 in conference.

Joica Buyse, Anya Nicolaides and Victoria Dafos all posted 6-0, 6-0 victories at Nos. 1, 2 & 3 singles. Maile Cornair played her first college singles match and beat Marbello Rubio in the No. 6 match, 6-2, 6-3. Cornair also won in doubles with Maddie Mitchell, taking the No. 3 set 8-4.

The Vaqueros will hit the road for a WSC match at Santa Monica on Tuesday at 2 p.m.
