Vaqueros rout Victor Valley 8-1, boost WSC record to 12-0

SBCC lost just nine games while sweeping eight sets at Nos. 2-5 singles on Thursday in an 8-1 women's tennis rout of Victor Valley in Victorville.

The Vaqueros won their fourth straight match and 12th in the last 13 outings. They're 14-2 overall and 12-0 in the WSC with two matches remaining.

Joica Buyse rallied to take the No. 1 singles in three sets, 6-7 (2), 6-1, 6-1. Anya Nicolaides and Victoria Dafos won by identical 6-1, 6-0 scores at No. 2 and 3 singles.

"Anya, Vickie and Maddie (Mitchell) all won their matches in 40 minutes," said coach Christina Klein. "We kept up a quick and strong pace to win the singles."

The Vaqueros will host a doubleheader on Friday with the men and women taking on Fullerton at 2 p.m. in non-conference matches.
