SBCC landed six players on the All-WSC women's tennis team after sweeping through conference play with a 14-0 record. The Vaqueros, 16-3 overall, won their first WSC title since 2001.
Four Vaqueros made first team All-WSC at singles – No. 3 Anya Nicolades, No. 4 Victoria Dafos, No. 5 Jule Lauinger and No. 6 Maddie Mitchell. Joica Buyse was second team all-conference.
Dafos, Lauinger and Mitchell were all undefeated in conference play.
SBCC's three doubles teams were first team all-conference – No. 1 Jamaica Buyse/Joica Buyse, No. 2 Nicolaides/Dafos and No. 3 Lauinger/Mitchell.
Christina Klein was named WSC Coach of the Year. She's in her second season as SBCC's head coach and has a glossy 30-8 career record (.789), including 26-2 in WSC action.
Santa Barbara is seeded No. 5 for the Southern Cal Regional and will play a quarterfinal match at No. 4 Fullerton on Tuesday at 2 p.m.
