Hannah Arnold placed second in the 60 meters on Saturday as SBCC opened its women's track & field season by competing in the Sunshine Invitational at Westmont College.
The event featured four-year schools like Westmont, Concordia, Vanguard and Biola as well as top-notch athletes from the Santa Barbara area. Many of the races were indoor events as the four-year college athletes were trying to qualify for the NAIA Nationals.
Arnold, a freshman from Rocklin, Calif., ran 8.04 in the 60 and was the top collegiate finisher. Faith Burt was first in 7.82 in the 25-person event that featured four heats.
Nicole Stevens placed fourth in the 600 meters.
The Vaqueros return to action on Saturday at the Soka Invitational in Aliso Viejo.
