SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – Freshman middle blocker Paige Rudi of the SBCC women's volleyball team was named the CCCWVCA State Player of the Week, it was announced on Monday.

The Woodland, Calif. native played a big part in No. 8 Santa Barbara's two victories last week over Ventura and Rio Hondo, posting totals of 16 kills, nine aces, four blocks and a .378 hitting percentage.

In the five-set battle against Rio Hondo, Rudi put together an incredible performance on her birthday, going for eight kills, two blocks, and setting a new Vaquero season-high with eight aces. The win was the ninth straight for the Vaqueros.

Two days before that, the former Pioneer High School standout went for eight kills, two blocks and an ace to help lead SBCC to its eighth sweep in 12 matches.

For the year, she sits in the top four on her team in numerous categories, leading the Vaqueros with 0.47 aces per set and ranking second in blocks (22), third in hitting (.310), and fourth in kills (1.75 K/S).

Rudi and the Vaqueros will be back home this Wednesday and Friday for a pair of 6:00 p.m. matches against Moorpark and LA Pierce.
