SANTA BARBARA, Callf. – The SBCC women's volleyball team (17-3, 4-1) cruised to its thrd straight sweep Friday night at the Sports Pavilion, defeating Cuesta (10-7, 2-4) to resume conference play, 25-14, 25-17, 25-16.

"Tonight we built our momentum throughout the entire match, and finished set 3 with our best play of the night," head coach Kat Niksto said. "Caroline McCarty led the team in kills and is continuing to grow and flourish in the role as an outside hitter."

McCarty went for eight kills on 27 swings to go along with two blocks. Her 10 points matched Bella Johnson (7 kills, 3 aces) for team-high honors.

"Lauren Holsted had a standout night on defense with a passer rating of 2.46 which is phenomenal," Niksto said. "Karoline Ruiz had another solid night in the middle, and Bella Johnson had another electric night on the right."

Johnson set a season-high with 11 digs to lead the team. Holsted finished with seven scoops.

The Vaqueros had nine blocks, led by setter Emma Crabbe's three. It was Crabbe's third three-block performance of 2021.

That marks the second straight match, as well as the second time in their last seven matches, that SBCC has racked up nine blocks.

The Vaqueors will now play four straight on the road, starting with a 6:00 p.m. meeting with LA Mission next Wednesday, Oct. 27. They will only be home for one more contest this season, when they host LA Mission on Nov. 12 in the regular season finale.
