SAN LUIS OBISPO, CA- The Santa Barbara City College Women's Volleyball team swept Cuesta on Wednesday night, winning a share of the WSC North in the process. The Vaqueros finish conference play 8-2, co-champions for the second time in the last three years.

The Vaqueros won all three sets 25-17, consistently controlling the flow of the match.

"We passed well last night, allowing Sophie to use our entire offense," head coach Kat Niksto said.

With a .346 hitting percentage as a team, Sophie Ward was able to collect 32 assists, breaking her previous career high of 25 in her first collegiate game.

Nevaeh Tillet had a .423 hitting percentage and also set a career high, tying her mark of 14 kills set in a huge win at Moorpark two weeks ago. That 14 led the team against Cuesta on Wednesday, with Kira Little (9) and Chaya Clemons (7) following suit.

"Gabby was once again solid defensively, along with Celia," Niksto added.

Gabby Russell tallied 16 digs, while Celia Espinoza had 5. Nevaeh Tillet had a typically solid all-around match by her standards, also garnering 9 digs.

Bella Nassiri led all Vaqueros with 4 blocks, and Sophie Ward got up for 3.

The Vaqueros share the conference title with Moorpark and Ventura, with one more non-conference match to finish out the regular season. SBCC travels to WSC South foe Canyons on Tuesday night for a Conference Crossover match before the SoCal Regionals begin Saturday, the 18th.
