Emma Fraser has been selected as Athlete of the Week by the Santa Barbara Athletic Round Table and was honored during the weekly press luncheon on Monday at Harry's Plaza Café.

Fraser, a sophomore utility from Victoria, B.C., scored four goals in SBCC's 10-9 win over L.A. Valley in the WSC semifinals and added three more plus four steals in a 16-7 championship victory over Ventura.

She has 111 goals this year and is tied for the state lead with Sabrina Esteves of West Valley. Fraser also tied Rocio Fesembeck, who played on the first Vaquero water polo team in 2014, as SBCC's single-season goal leader.

The defending state champion Vaqueros (28-2) have won seven straight games.

They were seeded No. 2 for the Southern Cal Regional and they're seeking their third straight Regional crown. Fullerton, the only team to beat the Vaqueros this year, is seeded No. 1, followed by SBCC, Riverside and Long Beach. The 12-team Regional is being held at Cerritos College on Nov. 8-10.

Santa Barbara will play in the quarterfinals on Friday at 11:30 a.m. against No. 7 Cypress (14-7). The Chargers beat No. 10 Ventura 16-13 on Thursday.
