
SBCC Women's Water Polo won their 10th consecutive Western State Conference Championship at Citrus College. The Vaqueros were successful against Ventura in the semi final Friday with a final score 21-5, then beat Citrus for the championship 14-6.
In the semi, the Vaqueros had a strong defensive game, holding the Pirates scoreless in the first half. 9 different players contributed to the final score, and 11 had steals in the defensive effort. Addie Lane led with 5 goals. Kate Densmore had 8 blocks in the cage.
In the championship game against the Owls, SBCC held the lead after the first 3 minutes and never looked back. Cate Daland led the team offense, scoring 4 goals and drawing 5 ejections. Lily Carrick had 7 assists, tying the SBCC program record for most assists in a single game.
The Vaqueros improve their total program WSC record under head coach Chuckie Roth to 78-2 over 10 seasons. SBCC will continue their post-season at SoCal Regionals hosted by Orange Coast College on Friday November 15, seeded #3. They will take on the winner of #6 Miramar and #11 Golden West at 12:45 pm.
