
SBCC piled up 25 runs on Saturday and came away with a softball split at the Orange Coast Tournament in Costa Mesa.
The Vaqueros walloped Orange Coast 16-0 in five innings in the first game. Grossmont scored three in the bottom of the seventh to register a 10-9 walk-off win in Game 2.
Grossmont (9-4) outhit the Vaqueros 17-7 and collected six doubles and a two-run homer by Gabby Clippinger.
The Vaqueros (4-10) hit four home runs on the day and scored 10 runs in the fourth inning vs. Orange Coast.
Carson Dunckley pitched a one-hit shutout for her first win of the season. She struck out three and walked two in five innings. The only hit was a bunt single by Jaelyn Operana leading off the fourth.
Emily LoneTree had a monster second game, going 3-4 with two homers, a double and five RBIs. She drilled a two-run double in the third to make it 6-3, a two-run homer in the fifth for an 8-6 lead and a solo homer in the seventh, extending SBCC's lead to 9-7.
LoneTree, a sophomore shortstop from Los Banos, Calif., is second on the team in batting (.381) and first in doubles (6), homers (4), RBIs (13) and slugging percentage (.810).
Lauren Del Campo was 3-3 in the first game with a three-run homer in the first inning. She leads the Vaqueros with a .471 batting average.
Taylor Tibbels went 2-3 in the opener with a grand slam in the fourth. Madison Foster had a two-run double in the 10-run uprising and Mia Carranza added a two-run single.
The Vaqueros will host Oxnard in a WSC game on Thursday at 2:30 p.m.
