In a battle between the third place finishers in the WSC North and South, SBCC defeated Bakersfield 3-0 by the scores of 25-21, 28-26, 25-18. The game was a bit of revenge as the Vaqs had just dropped a match to the Renegades less than two weeks prior on the road in a make-up rescheduled match. Coach Niksto said, "We were disappointed with how we played at Bakersfield just a few weeks ago, so it felt extra nice to come out and play a much better match tonight! We treated the night like a playoff match mentally, it's all about preparing to be successful in the upcoming playoff bracket."
The Vaqs were once again led offensively by the freshmen duo of Kaylin Cooney (13 kills) and Tana Long (11 kills). Valeria Bellodas continued to rack up the digs, with 12 on the night, while the setting duties were shared between Natalie Lercari-Sullivan (25 assists) and Brielle Smith (11 assists).
Up next the Vaqs await their playoff seeding which will be announced on Thursday.
