No. 2 SBCC stormed out to leads of 5-0 and 9-2 on Friday morning en route to a 13-4 victory over No. 7 Cypress in a Southern Cal Regional women’s water polo quarterfinal at Cerritos College.

Fullerton went where no women’s water polo team had gone for the last 343 days on Saturday, upsetting No. 1-ranked SBCC 10-8 on the opening day of the Cuesta Rabobank Invitational at Dos Pueblos High.

Vaqueros rally for two comeback wins, improve to 11-0

SBCC staged a pair of comeback wins on Saturday on the final day of the Mt. SAC women’s water polo tournament in Walnut. The Vaqueros downed Long Beach for the second time this year, 13-10, and outlasted Saddleback in a wild 19-17 triumph.

Vaqueros hold off Fullerton 12-11 to stay undefeated

SBCC won two more games on Friday to remain undefeated in women’s water polo action. The defending state champion Vaqueros knocked off San Diego Mesa 14-9 in the Mt. SAC Tournament, then held on to beat Fullerton 12-11 in the Hornets’ pool.

Goalie Nicole Poulos made five saves vs. Long Beach and Alyssa Russell-Sadoff (white cap) drew five ejections.

SBCC posted three wins on the Opening Day of the 2018 women’s water polo season. The defending state champions knocked off Merced 17-7, West Valley 13-7 and Cerritos 17-4 on Saturday in the Central Coast Invitational at Morro Bay High.
